Welcome to the Mill Arms
Set in the village of Dunbridge and half a mile from Mottisfont Abbey, the Mill Arms is an ideal base for walkers, visitors to the New Forest, fisherman on the glorious Test and shooting parties in the winter months. Close to the market town of Romsey, there are a wealth of activities for visitors (https://visitromsey.org/visit)
With 6 completely refurbished letting rooms, a function room and skittle alley, along with a welcoming bar and restaurant, all of our guest's needs can be easily catered for. With a brand new conservatory for dining looking out over the garden and patio with two open fireplaces, one surrounded by 3 comfy sofas, we are sure that you’ll find a welcoming spot to enjoy our hospitality.
Our 6 en-suite bedrooms all have newly installed showers and light modern furniture, along with TV, DAB radio, tea & coffee facilities and wi-fi. A separate residence entrance allows you to come and go as you please during your stay.
The function room is available for weddings, birthdays and use as a skittle alley. With its own bar and facilities we are able to cater for up to 120 guests. In addition it can also be used for meeting hire and business presentations.
Run by two sisters, Gina McDonald and Lorna Burton, you can be assured of a warm welcome and a comfortable stay, whether for a few hours enjoying a meal, an evening for an event, or overnight for a stay. Gina’s prior international business career, and hundreds’ of nights staying in hotels and eating out, drive her passion for providing the best customer experience for all our guests.
It’s nearly time to welcome you back
We have missed you and are pleased to let you know we will be reopening on Tuesday 21 July.
We appreciate that some of you may be disappointed that we are not opening on the Saturday 4 July but after careful consideration we have decided to take the extra time working through the guidelines, holding training sessions with our staff and implementing a new way of operating that ensures the safety of both our staff and you our customers, with new measures including hand sanitiser points, enhanced cleaning routines, tables spaced appropriately and signage explaining the new ways of operating.
Things will be different when you return and unfortunately there has to be a list of do’s and don’ts so we ask for your patience and understanding – together we will learn to socialise in this new normal.
Our indoor space is being reorganised and only table service will be available. We strongly advise pre booking a table for a maximum of 6 people and up to 2.5 hours. Phone lines for booking will open on Thursday 9 July – please note we will only be taking telephone bookings so please do not message us regarding bookings.
As you are aware we are fortunate to have a nice outdoor space at the Mill Arms and service for outside will be via a queueing system at the bar. However, when planning your visit please note that if you are outside and it begins to rain you will not be able to move inside. We must also advise that initially no children under 12 will be allowed inside the pub and even when in the garden they must remain seated with parents at all times, respecting social distancing for other groups occupying the garden.
Initially we will operate a reduced menu and reduced hours and will publish these and many more details over the coming days.
We know that things will be different, it will take longer to serve you and at times it will be frustrating for both customers and staff but we will do our best to make it as enjoyable an experience as we can in as safe an environment for you as we can.
As we operate to this new rhythm we will be adapting and updating our operating practices so please bear with us and we can’t wait to see you on or soon after 21 July.
